BTC Oarsmen join the growing ranks of Southampton based athletes seizing the opportunity to gain National and International recognition.

Following the Olympic and International success of Itchen Imperial’s James Foad and the Junior International success of Coaporter’s Caragh McMurtry. BTC’s Charlie Lewis has been selected to represent Great Britain in the Eight Crew at the 2013 Coupe de la Jeunesse in Lucerne, Switzerland. Starting Friday, August 2, following ten months of intensive training with Upper Thames Rowing Club and gruelling trials he may also be selected to row in the Coxed Four as well.

Partially funded by Sport Aid, who are contributing £500 towards the £800 for him to complete, the cost to grass roots athletes and their families cannot be under estimated.

Following closely behind Charlie is BTC’s Richard Hume who gained a Silver Medal in the junior Under 18 Open Single Sculls National Championships at Nottingham last weekends and is now looking forward to moving to the Henley upon Thames, Leander Club Headquarters to continue his development if funding can be secured, WE WISH THEM BOTH EVERY SUCCESS.
